Next Tuesday, Los Angeles voters will elect city and school officials, and will decide on proposals to amend the City Charter. These are our endorsements:

Mayor: Antonio Villaraigosa

Mayor Villaraigosa’s administration has been positive. He has fulfilled his electoral promises to give priority to public safety, to take steps to improve our city’s schools, and to make a greener Los Angeles.

Controller: Wendy Greuel

Councilwoman Wendy Greuel has the knowledge and experience to build on the increasing role and responsibilities of the Controller as auditor of city government.

City Attorney: Jack Weiss

Councilman Jack Weiss has the background to be city attorney. He is a defender of Special Order 40, an advocate of the Neighborhood Prosecutor Program and a supporter of the injuctions against gangs.

District 1: Ed Reyes

Councilman Ed Reyes is a strong representative of his district. Among his top priorities are environmental issues. He deserves to be re-elected.

District 7: Richard Alarcón

Richard Alarcón is an experienced councilman with many years advocating for the interests of his district. He runs unopposed in this election.

District 9: Jan Perry

Overall, Councilwoman Jan Perry’s term has been positive, but it has had its ups and downs. She runs unopposed in this election.

District 11: Bill Rosendahl

Councilman Bill Rosendhal is a progressive voice on the City Council and an advocate for improving the quality of life in his district. He deserves to be re-elected.

District 13: Eric Garcetti

Councilman Eric Garcetti has shown leadership as president of the City Council and in representing his district. He deserves to be re-elected.
